This well-balanced Sauvignon Blanc is sourced from cooler vineyards in the southern end of the Sonoma Coast AVA. The Hi-Vista vineyard in western Carneros and the Grossi vineyard north of Petaluma contribute spice and bright, tangy acidity. The Leveroni vineyard south of Sonoma adds the unique floral character of the Sauvignon “musqué” clone, and the Robledo Vineyard adds freshness and liveliness. This wine exhibits aromas of lemon and grapefruit zest and offers subtle flavors of white peach, key lime, and honeydew melon. It finishes with a refreshing minerality and zesty acidity.
The aromas range from black cherry and forest floor to a hint of graham cracker from the light use of new oak. On the palate the entry is round, and the midpalate exhibits richness that reflects the warmth of the vintage. The polished tannins give the wine a light structure that lingers pleasantly on the finish, enticing another sip. Drinkable now and for the next 10 years.
Beautifully dark, complex, and concentrated, this wine offers luxurious aromas of black currant, dark cherry, and plum, layered with hints of cedar, mountain sage, aged tobacco, thyme, and toasted oak. The structure is seamless and silky, with a glowing richness that permeates the palate, adding depth and generosity to flavors of black cherry, currant, chocolate, and espresso bean, with notions of fresh herbs and barrel spice providing a lovely counterpoint throughout the long, resonating finish.
