LMU proudly presents its newest Wine Collective release: a limited-edition 2024 Sauvignon Blanc crafted in partnership with Costa de Oro Winery. The bottle features “In the Beginning,” a 2001 stained-glass artwork by Genevieve Underwood, R.S.H.M., which graces the Interdenominational Chapel for Prayer and Peace in University Hall. This release honors our ongoing collaboration with LMU vintners Gary Burk, P ’20, and Teresa Gasca-Burk ’83, P ’20. Each purchase supports LMU student scholarships, offering our community a meaningful way to raise a glass to a brighter future.

Sourced from the Happy Canyon area of the Santa Ynez Valley in Santa Barbara County, this Sauvignon Blanc showcases classic varietal character with mineral- and earth-driven aromatics of stone, green apple, melon, and lime. The palate is fresh and vibrant, revealing flavors of citrus and gooseberry, balanced by bright acidity that carries through to a long, refreshing finish highlighted by mineral, spice, and lemon.

Sister Genevieve's sculptures and stained-glass works can be found in churches, hospitals, and schools throughout Southern California. On LMU’s campus, she designed the stained-glass windows for Huesman Hall, and her stained-glass window, "In the Beginning," graces the front of the chapel in our Marymount Center for Prayer and Peace.
“The Window design reflects the Glory of God as [God] created all the beauty in our world with beautiful color and form.” – Sister Genevieve
Each year, the LMU College of Communication and Fine Arts recognizes a student with the Genevieve Underwood, R.S.H.M., Perpetual Trophy and Award for Service in honor of Sister Genevieve’s commitment to generous action. In 2000, she received the papal Benemerenti Medal for serving the church with distinction.
